Not easy, but worth it!!
I bought the world map mural for my 3 year-old twins 'big boy' bedroom. We're going for an adventure / explorer feeling without being too themed :)I'll admit that I found the idea of hanging this mural more than a little intimidating. I enlisted my mother to help since she has lots of experience with wallpaper. It ended up taking us about 4 hours to hang and I spent an hour the following day doing the trimming and gluing down corners that had curled up. The directions were pretty good, although we didn't follow the hanging order suggested (we went right to left and it worked fine). The mural is printed on a good quality paper, but be sure not to rub it too hard while wet or some colour will come off (especially the dark blue). We found the best tool for getting the bubbles out was an 8" plastic wallpaper smoother and we wished we had one each instead of sharing. Be generous with the glue and squish it out as you smooth (have LOTS of rags on hand!). I'd also suggest to trim to within an inch of the size you need before applying, as I found that the corners didn't dry flat and it was far worse with the more excess that was left. One further tip - to remove the stubborn trimmed pieces that stick to the walls & baseboard, apply a little warm water mixed with fabric softener and it will lift off without a mess. The colours are vivid and the mural makes a great impact in the room. It is amazing how much information they managed to include on the map - from time zones to distances between major cities. My kids are already realizing just how big the world is and will hopefully be inspired to see as much in their lifetimes as they can!

Very happy with product and end result
Very happy with product and end result. Don't be afraid to hang this paper, you can do it! Read the instructions and measure your area, then read and measure again. Get comfortable with instructions before you begin. My wall was able to fit the mural lengthwise and I had to cut off the top 13 inches.Tips: There are 8 panels, 4 top 4 bottom. Once wet the panels expand about .5 inch in all directions. When installed the top panels overlap the bottom by 1/4 inch, the right panels overlap adjacent left panel by the same. This paper is not meant to be hung with the edges butted together, must overlap. If you follow the instructions and start at the middle, you might need an extra pair of hands to accommodate overlapping. Once you are hanging your second sheet, your hands will be occupied holding the wet paper by the corners, then somehow you need to tuck panel under the other sheet to accommodate the overlap. That is where a helper would be nice. If you have the luxury of starting from the bottom left you won't need a helper since you would proceed with the panel above it, then move to your right with the next bottom panel and so on. My 14 year old applied the glue, (included and plenty left over) and my wife handed me the "booked" sheets. Knocked it out in 90 minutes, never hung paper before. Borrow wallpaper tools from friends, someone will have them so you don't have to go out and purchase. Large brush for glue, large wallpaper broom/brush to spread out air bubbles and seam roller. Don't worry much about small bubbles, paper will dry and tighten everything up. Good luck.

I wouldn't do it again
So, when all was said and done, I completely LOVE the way this mural looks in my son's bedroomm - it truely is a focal point that I think our entire family will enjoy for years. HOWEVER, it almost got ripped off the walls a mere three panels into the project. I consider myself an avid DIYer and there are very few projects I won't attempt, but this is one that I would steer clear of in the future. My dad and I hung this mural together and the two of us were extremely frustrated by the time it was done. Despite our precise timing of the booking the panels all stretched differently and it was impossible to get all of the text and lines to correctly align on the walls. Will my kids notice? No - but I do and it irritates me.If you're brave enough to attempt this, use a lot of the glue (way more than the instructions recommend) and be prepared to use a whole lot of paper towels to wipe up the excess. Also, I highly recommend trimming the paper to within 1" of the final size as the paper does not cut well when wet (even the slightest bit wet with a knife as nearly impossible to get a clean cut) and having too much paper to work with in corners and around baseboards is a little tricky.

Love the product
Know before you buy:FACTs:There are two versions of the map: A paper version and the write-on versionPurchase both the paper version and the write-on version. I have installed the paper version as a trial and Love it.Size: Height: 8' 8", Width: 13', 8 panels (4 top, 4 bottom). Measure your wall several timesHanging: works best with two people installing the map and follow the directions.Time: Be prepared to spend at least two hours depending on the surface type and your method of installProvided Paste: Sufficient and works well on drywall with no issues. Follow the directionsHint: Unroll the map and place heavy objects such as books for at least 24 hrs. to flatten out the sheetsBottom-line: I would definitely recommend to a friend and it’s a great learning aid for young and old.Décor: Absolutely beautiful.P.S : Intend to use several coats of magnetic paint prior to hanging the write-on version and will let you know how that works out.I want to place magnets on the map instead of writing on it.
