Amazing, bang for your buck processor, however, my first one was faulty!
So I ordered this with a compatible AM4 socket motherboard, 2666mhz DDR4 ram (after reading online that the Ryzen 1000/2000 series have some issues with higher clock speed ram).Installing with the AM4 sockets is a piece of cake, there's a small triangle on the processor and on the socket in the motherboard, orientate them the same way, line up the pins with the holes and pull the clip down. Pea sized amount of thermal paste and fit your CPU cooler.Upon installing the first CPU i was getting weird freezes just after, during or before the windows 10 welcome screen. No blue screen message just the PC would freeze, I replaced every other component and still had crashes it was the processor. Amazon sent a replacement the next day and that has been working a dream, i had to upgrade my computer to run apex legends and this processor handles games with ease. CPUs with all the pins straight being faulty is incredibly rare, 0.001% territory but just a heads up if you get as unlucky as me, the freezing during different stages of boot and no blue screen may be the processor at fault like I had.NOTES IF YOU ARE GETTING THIS PROCESSOR;AMD Ryzen 1600x and other x processors do not come with stock coolers, you will need an AM4 socket compatible stock cooler to fit on installation. If you aren't getting an AM4 socket motherboard with XMP ability do not get DDR4 RAM with a clock speed higher than 2666mhz.This processor is a beast for the money and tackles any modern game with ease, the Ryzen master drivers allow you to overclock and tweak the processors performance with ease.Despite getting a faulty processor originally, I still can't recommend the processor enough. The sellers professionalism with replacing the faulty part instantly, crap happens sometimes and I feel like I just got unlucky.

Important to keep in mind
While the 1600X works perfectly now that everything’s up and running, I did have a few hiccups at the start. Firstly, the X signifies that this processor does not come with a stock heatsink fan. While I appreciate having a market fan at the moment, I do wish I had spotted this earlier so that I wouldn’t have staggered my deliveries. Secondly, the processor requires that you have a discrete graphics driver. While most people would be getting one of these anyways (for gaming) I was going to hold off until a later date. I feel like this wasn’t stated enough in the description of the unit. I almost feel like it should have been written in block capitals on the product page, but instead I only noticed it on the box label. It’s still a fantastic unit, but make sure you’ve taken these aspects into account

Great for a gaming PC build
This CPU was bought for a gaming PC build, at the time of its release, it offered a very competitive price point, giving people the ability to play modern games at high settings whilst also being able to handle CPU intensive workloads, thanks to the 6 cores. It does use a bit more power than I would like, but when you keep this CPU on the stock settings it will run quietly. This CPU does not come with a cooler out of the box so you will have to purchase your own one, but I don't think that will be an issue, as because this is the X version, most people would be overclocking it so would normally buy a cooler anyway. I have not had any complaints whilst I have owned it, AMD are a great brand for CPUs that are normally good value. Now that this CPU is a bit older, it may not be perfect for a modern gaming PC but still represents a great 6 core CPU that once overclocked, has a lot of power to be utilized.

Very good CPU at a good price (1600x)
The chip I bought runs perfectly very cool with the arctic freezer 33 e-sports one cooler at 3.7ghz in games average out of the box no overclocking on all 6 cores at minimum all the time, and turbos up to 4.0ghz under 2 or 3 core use. For most users you don't need more CPU than this for at least 2 or 3 years. Perfect for gaming up to 100hz, only buy an i7 or 9900k if you have a monitor that's greater than 100hz. If you do a bit of live streaming and youtube editing, this will get the job done well. Sure, the ryzen 7s are noticeably better for that but you'd hope they would be for the higher price. The ryzen 5 1600x/2600(x), is the sweet spot for gaming and the odd bit of streaming here and there, if you're doing it full time or do streaming and content creation a lot, then get at least a ryzen 7, otherwise this is all you need for a while.

The 1600X CPU doesn't come with a fan! Be warned!
I bought this CPU from Amazon and I'm very happy with the performance. However, I didn't notice at the time of ordering that it doesn't come with a cooling fan! Apparently most other versions do, but not the 1600X. Why on earth not!? Makes no sense! Very annoying that I couldn't install it as soon as it arrived! Make sure your one comes with a cooler, or order one at the same time.

great cpu for overall use
awesome CPU for overall use, purchased this for my new build focused on gaming/streaming, which is why i chose AMD, for the more cores and threads, for the price (strict budget)CPU is great for tasks such as streaming/video encoding, slight impact on gaming due to AMD and not Intel, but still is pretty good!if your creating a build for gaming and workloads, would highly recommend! if only for games, and not streaming or doing any works loads or such, would recommend Intel instead.

Amazing processor, excellent for both games and content creation!
SPEED DEMONNNNNNN! Seriously awesome price and gobsmacking performance. This 1st Gen chip will last me many years to come. So far I have been very pleased with this processor. Coupled with a solid GPU it breezes through all games without any issue whatsoever and this chip though not a 8-core, still performs brilliantly in multi-core workloads in things such as zip/unzip, rendering and content creation.

Impressive
I had a FX8300 paired with a GTX 1060 6gb and was getting roughly 40-60 fps on PUBG with high graphics settings.Just bought this and now I am getting over 100 fps consistently (on high). Very impressed, also runs my CPU intensive games much more smoothly and quickly, like Warhammer 2 etc.For only £170 I cannot complain in the slightest.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600x seems to be reliable.
I've bought this processor, because I wanted good, fast and reliable processor on an afforadble price.According the statistics, the processor performs even better than the expensive processorcs from other brands, which cost triple as much.

Ryzen just handed Intel a bloody nose with this chips price/performance ratio. Very impressed thus far.
I decided to do a amd build despite my roots in Intel technology. I did alot of research in this matter before moving in this direction but there were multiple factors which led to this decision. First was the fact that it was newish technology. I say newish, because it was out for a solid 8 or so months before i built my computer, which meant that alot of the kinks were ironed out, but it was still new enough to be futureproof for awhile. Also what sold me on this processor was the price to performance point. it sets the bar high for a cpu in its price range, and though Intel does possess better performance in the gaming department, i wasn't willing to spend an additional 50 - 100 on an equivalent intel processor. I got it on sale, and am very impressed with its performance in the games i play, and with how economical and cool it runs. Most of the time the processor stays around 25 - 30 degrees depending on ambient temps. I do have it cooled by a 240mm liquid cpu cooler, which i know is overkill, but i like it when my tech keeps its cool. Even at full power it settled in at a minor 62 degrees max.Overall, i'm happy with how its run. I have had zero issues with it in my Gigabyte k7 motherboard and though early on people had issues with ram being forced to run at lower than max settings, my ram worked right out the box once i activated the xmp profile. I would highly recommend for all but the most extreme gamers. Yes Intel has dominated this area for a long time, but with Ryzen, AMD just bashed the sleeping tiger with a hammer. Time will tell if AMD is able to take intels place, or if intel will pull an ace out of its sleeve.

(Second) best bang for your buck
Great processor for the price. Able to compete with much more expensive Intel processors, with the feeling of no lag. Improved my gaming performance coming from a a10 chip drastically. Only regret about getting this chip was not considering the regular 1600 more. My motherboard made this chip hard to OC until a future BIOS update and installing my cpu cooler was very finicky and does not look nearly as nice as the one that comes with the 1600. The 1600 is easily the best bang for your buck and honestly overclocking it isn't even that hard. I would only consider the 1600x over the 1600 if I was not comfortable at all with overclocking. Otherwise this is a fantastic chip, definitely the best platform AMD has made yet and brings genuine competitiveness back to the CPU market.

I love it
Super easy to install if you already have a Ryzen series Cpu, Works great for all my gaming needs, I have it paired with a Gtx 1070 Founders Gpu and it's rarely the cause of a bottle, if this pair even bottlenecks at all. The single core speed is great for getting things done quick, and the 6 cores 12 threads is great for multitasking or even moderate to heavy Graphic design/good quality video creation (given you have the proper amount of ram, 16gb minimum in my opinion)If you don't already have a Ryzen series Cpu and your planning on getting this Cpu, i would suggest getting something like the Gigabyte AB350M motherboard for a more budget build, but if you plan on overclocking you would be looking at something like the MSI B350M PRO.Overall i am very happy with the performance of the Ryzen Series Cpu's

Go for the 1600X instead of the 1600 if you have an aftermarket cooler
When I bought the 1600X, it was the same price as the 1600, and I already had a cooler (an old Corsair H70 which I fitted onto a X370 motherboard using a $5 AM4 bracket adapter—but I digress). This CPU is overkill for the average gamer, and at a solid price point. I don’t regret switching over to AMD from an Intel processor. N.B.: The product description lists this as a 4.0GHz CPU, but it’s actually clocked at 3.6GHz, but very easy to overclock.

Great bang for the buck
Great chip for the money. While it may lag behind a bit compared to higher clocked CPU's, on a 2k or higher system it keeps pace with much more expensive processors as your GPU bound anyway. Was thinking of waiting for the 8700k, but the performance gain is minimal. AMD will be supporting this socket for a few years so you can grab this chip now and upgrade in 3 years for about the same price as an 8700k...Make sure you overclock it...helps a ton.
