Plays well

I love the songs in this book and the arrangements are pretty good too. I definitely want to get more clarinet books in this series.

I ended up returning this one

These are written for three clarinets plus (with purchase of a separate book that I don't have) a piano. With all 4 players, the arrangements might sound good. However, I was hoping for some good clarinet solo and duet pieces to play - this book does not provide what I was hoping it would.If you only play the melody line, you are playing strictly the main vocal part of the piece, with no intro, filler, etc. It just doesn't work as a solo as written. The music is easy for a beginner to play, except that you must be able to play up to high "C" for most songs, in the Clarion (middle) register. As a beginner, I couldn't switch registers well enough. Now that I can, the arrangements are too easy for me to play. Oh well. (And no, the book does not include lyrics.)

Favorite Songs of Praise (Trumpet) was purchased with the hope of starting up a small rural church's children's music band. we had several children learning instruments in school and were hoping to get something started. however, not only does this book NOT contain the piano scores (even thought it says in the title "with Optional Piano Accompaniment"), it is only for brass trios, and it is proving impossible to find the accompanying piano scores. Not very useful, especially with that misleading title.
