Size:3 inches The Yost Vises 103 3" machinist vise with stationary base has an extra-large jaw opening and throat depth, mounts to a workbench to provide clamping action for heavy-duty applications, meets Federal Specification GGG-V-410B Type VI Class 1, and is made in USA. The stationary base has been machined flat to create a firm foundation for the vise when mounted. The ductile iron body is durable and strong for extended life. The hardened-steel jaws have grooves for enhanced grip and can be replaced when worn. The jaws draw closer together or farther apart by turning the vise handle clockwise or counterclockwise. The main screw that controls the jaws has been continuous rolled for high strength. A rubber washer on either side of the handle prevents unwanted sliding when turning, and the balls on each end unscrew to enable replacement of the handle if worn. The base has two 33/64"-diameter holes for mounting hardware (not included).SpecificationsJaw width (nominal)3"Jaw opening (nominal)4"Throat depth (nominal)3"Pipe capacityNot ApplicableOverall dimensions*8 x 6 x 13 inches (H x W x D)Weight29 lb.*H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Vises use the clamping action of jaws to hold a workpiece in place for applications such as drilling and sawing. Vise styles are categorized by how the device is mounted. For example, bench vises mount to a benchtop; drill press vises bolt to a drill press; and woodworking vises fit underneath, on top, or to the side of a workbench. A vise's jaw opening and throat depth should be large enough for the workpiece.Yost Vises manufactures a wide range of vises, including bench-mount, woodworking, and drill-press styles. The company, founded in 1908, is headquartered in Holland, MI.

Fantastic! It saddens me that there are so few ...
it's almost a work of art. Butter smooth handle operation and a lifetime warranty. They only offer those if the product will outlast you. Yes it's 5X the cheap POC I could have bought, but I will never have to buy a vise again. Fantastic! It saddens me that there are so few reviews for this vise. That tells me people are not willing to pay this price for a wonderful, life long product.

Solid Vise
This is a very well made, heavy duty vise. It's not cheap, but when you need a good USA vise this is it. I like this model Yost because it doesn't have the swivel base, which can come loose at less then ideal times. Everything is tight, and slides smooth.

5 stars IF you get one without a pin sticking out of the machined flat bottom.
One MAJOR defect takes this from 5 stars to 1. There is a pin that holds the lead screw into the vise. That pins goes through the bottom and sticks out so that the vise will not lay flat. This makes the vise worthless. The bottom was machined perfectly flat BEFORE the pin was smashed through. They ground it off but it still sticks out a lot. It’s excellent quality other than that. Made is USA, 65,000 PSI ductile iron, good machining, smooth operation. How did they miss this defect on multiple vises?!
