Banker's Lamp with White Shade (Brushed Steel Finish)

I did not read the product description or reviews close enough and was disappointed to find that the shade on this lamp is made of plastic. That having been said, it looks OK on the desk in my home office. This lamp is a little taller than some of the other banker's lamps on the market, which is one of the main reasons I chose it. I was concerned about how the shade would hold up to the heat if used for prolonged periods of time. I've used a 60-watt, 600 lumen bent-tip decorative bulb (not recommended by mfr), which provides more air space between the bulb and the shade than a conventional bulb. I've used the lamp for 4+ hours at a time, for several days in a row, and I have not detected any heat-related problems. This is not a fine decorator lamp, but it is functional and looks OK.Update: I've been using the lamp for about a year and a half. Heat from the bulb has now burned a brown spot on the plastic shade. I don't think it's dangerous, just discolored.

I like the style of the lamp. I also like that the shade is white and the base is a steel finish. What I do not like is that the shade is PLASTIC. Because of that you cannot leave this lamp on for more than 30 minutes without the shade becoming extremely hot even with a 25W bulb. If the shade was glass like most bankers lamps are, it would be a much better product. As it is now I feel like it's a potential fire hazzard if I leave it on and walk away.

I got this lamp for my study desk. It looks nice and simple, and is a nice modern spin on the typical green banker lamps. My only issue with the lamp is that the max light bulb you can use is a 40-watt Incandescent or 13-watt CFL Bulb, which really doesn't produce that much light. It worked fine with my laptop and light reading, but it didn't light up the study area very well condusive for a serious study desk.

My kindergartner needed a lamp and I wanted to get one that was not too fragile, but didn't look horrible. This fits the bill. It is durable, easy for her to use, and the shade is plastic, so I am not worried about breakage. Really looks good too.

I ordered two additional of these lamps to match the current lamps we had in our office. They are sturdy, well made and as described. Please note, the shade is indeed plastic so if you're looking for a glass shade, this is not your item.

Overall, this lamp looks nice, but I was a little disappointed when I figured out that the shade is made of cheap plastic and not glass. The brushed steel is beautiful, so the cheap plastic shade does not seem to fit.

Nice lamp for the money matter of fact seen lamps that cost more and were not as nice seems to be well made and works well. If I needed such a lamp again would buy this one.

I ordered this lamp to replace my broken green bankers lamp. I was worried about the white however I like it very much. It is sturdy and bright eneough to light a larger area than the green.
