Works well on batteries, but has less arcs than the picture will lead you to believe.
For the price, it works well. Batteries and USB makes it function properly.While fewer pronounced arcs than one that you would plug into the wall, it does function perfectly and looks great in the dark using batteries.Do not judge the amount of arcs you get based off of the picture, because you will be disappointed.But for having a portable plasma ball that operates on batteries, and for the pricepoint, it has been a great purchase for me!

Not safe.
The kids have fun with this, but I kid you not - my young son has been shocked three times from this plasma ball (near the metal input). Not a safe toy at all.
