Scorpions love Crickets.
I live in Arizona, and April is the start of "Scorpion Season". The "Bark scorpion" is the most prevalent and most toxic of all. I've been stung by one, (I stepped on it with my bare feet at night in my kitchen)and although it was like a bee sting, it throbbed for nearly 12 hours. I washed the area with a disinfectant soap, applied some hydrogen peroxide, then went to bed. By nine the next morning, it had stopped throbbing and all was fine. I've done a lot of research on the critters since then, and found that they are especially attracted to CRICKETS! If you have crickets, you're going to have scorpions. Get yourself a good pest control company to get rid of the crickets, and it will alleviate but not necessarily get rid of the scorpions, as they are highly resistant to pesticides. My pest exterminator comes around once a month, but we both know that they will never be completely eradicated. My old neon black light finally failed, so I decided to order the flashlight type to replace it. Wow! what a difference. I checked the reviews on 6of them, and found that except for the name; Phileex, Esco-Lite, Power Tek, Ultikit, Esky, or Loftek, they were identical except for the price. All are made in China, all have 51 LEDs, the dimensions are identical. I ordered the "Phileex for $12.00. I took it out for a trial run the first night, and I was amazed at how much brighter it was than my old neon type. I found 5 Bark Scorpions in my backyard, killed three, 2 got away (for now). The flashlight had one minor problem; the batteries (3 AAs) in the holder were a bit loose causing the light to dim a bit when moving it around. I unscrewed the bottom (DON'T unscrew the top!!!) slid the battery case out, and wrapped some blue masking tape around the width of the case to snug up the batteries. Now it works just fine. A little cheaply made, but then what isn't from China. It serves its' purpose, I just hope it lasts through October when the season ends.Midway through the season, it's now July. The flashlight is still doing well, though the battery holder is the single greatest flaw. The batteries cannot seat properly as they push against each other forcing one to slip off the contact points thus dimming the light. I'll work on it and see if I can come up with a solution. Meanwhile, the scorpion count is up to 42.Update#3 Started using rechargeable batteries, they last a little longer but still move around a lot in the holder. With 51 leds' power drains in a hurry. My scorpion hunts only take about 15 minutes each, so I get maybe 5 hunts on a set of batteries before they get too dim to be usefull outdoors. It's September 30th, scorpion count is up to 120.

Ok for the price.
Overall for the cheap price it is ok. The body is metal and durable, the lens is plastic, the end unscrews and the batteries are inserted into a flimsy holder that slides into the handle. It came with an attached strap handle. It is compact, just under 6" in length. It is not as bright as I expected. The room needs to be pretty dark for it to do much.

this light works great for a very reasonable price
this light works great for a very reasonable price. I used it so far for locating leaks in my cars ac and also for urine stains from my ex roommates dogs. I previously bought the walmart kit with yellow glasses and pen light, but was less than impressed with its single led light. This light is many times brighter and a big plus is it uses AA's instead of AAAs which will last longer. I highly recommend this over other AC car kits and because it uses AAs. Great Product

Nice for scorpion hunting.
Powerful, makes Scorpion hunting easy. They glow like a neon sign.Occasionally the light goes out and you have to shake it.

Durable, reliable, good size and weight.
I've had this few a few weeks now. I used it to check florescence for a black light party for my daughter. It was small enough that it fit in my pocket of my jacket. It had weight to it and feels durable and so far has served me well. It takes 3 AA batteries and creates a good amount of black light. It's quite cool, actually, and we've had fun with it.

Bright but very fragile
It worked great for a week or so. Then I dropped it once from waist height on a wood floor. The internal plastic cage that grips the batteries shattered leaving no way to get power to the less. The unit is now useless after one small drop, making it a waste of money.

Love these little flashlights
Love these little flashlights. We keep a couple in the car and use them at every hotel-motel to check the bathroom and beds. Use them in the back yard checking for scorpions. Haven't found any, Thank Goodness
